The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has developed a safety standard for better security of ships and port facilities: the ISPS Code (International Standard Port Security). The safety regulations included in the code aim to prevent unauthorized access to ships and port areas. Therefore, anyone who wants to visit a ship in a port must register in advance. Requesting, approving (or rejecting) and providing feedback for these visits are daily tasks that take up a lot of time. The process of registering ship visits is quite cumbersome.
ISPS Announcements
Visiting ships in ports is only allowed if the ship’s agent, on behalf of the captain, gives permission. Anyone who wants to board a ship must register through the ISPS registration service.
ISPS Approvals
The ship’s agent receives these registrations through the system and can easily approve or reject each registration. The
ISPS Approved Visitor Lists
After approval, the registration is forwarded to the relevant terminal(s). This way, the terminals always have an up-to-date overview of approved visitors to ships on their terminal. The ISPS registration service automatically provides status updates of the registrations to the agent and the requester. If the terminal also approves the visitor’s request, the visitor can report to the gate without any issues.
